The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its initial list of 20 candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly Elections, even as talks with Congress over a potential alliance continue.
Led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, AAP has been pressing Congress to agree to an alliance for the elections. Earlier in the day, Sushil Gupta, AAP's state unit chief, mentioned that if an agreement wasn't reached by the evening, the party would proceed to announce candidates for all 90 constituencies.
The deadline for filing nominations for the Haryana Assembly Elections is September 12, with polling scheduled for October 5.
Here are the AAP candidates announced so far:
Alliance Negotiations with Congress
Discussions between Congress and AAP have reached an impasse, mainly over seat-sharing arrangements. AAP is seeking to contest 10 seats, while Congress has proposed five. Gupta expressed that if a resolution is not reached soon, AAP will finalize its candidates for all constituencies.
Sanjay Singh, a senior leader in AAP, confirmed that the candidate selection process is complete. The final approval from Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the party, will determine their participation in the elections.
