Haryana CM: Fingers pointed at women will be chopped off

Panchkula (Haryana) [India], July 13 (NT): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar warned that if anyone dares to point fingers at women, their fingers will be chopped off. Khattar mad this statement said during the launch of Ek aur Sudhar project here.

CM Khattar further stated that people accused of rape, molestation or sexual assault in Haryana will not be permitted to avail benefits from state govt. schemes.

He said that if anyone dares to point fingers at our women their fingers will be chopped off and Haryana Govt will make arrangements regarding this. After receiving disapproval over his remark, Khattar later clarified stating that he didn't mean  that and his ntention of the statement was not  to impose a uncivilized rule but to penalize the accused/culprits. CM Khattar told media here.

Khattar on Thursday announced that if the accused is found not guilty of all charges then that person can avail the benefits.

The Chief Minister also asserted that if a rape victim wants to hire a lawyer of her choice except for the one offered by the state government, she would be provided financial assistance of Rs 22,000.

Khattar also told that he will declare a comprehensive scheme for the safety and security of women either on Independence Day (August 15) or Raksha Bandhan (August 26). (NT)
