Haryana: On Wednesday, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the government was looking into ways to promote the annual international Gita Mahotsav by holding exhibitions at embassies around the world.
The 14-day celebration is conducted to commemorate the birth of the sacred literature "Bhagwat Gita," which contains Lord Krishna's advice to Arjuna on the first day of the Mahabharata's 18-day war at Kurukshetra. During the last international Gita Mahotsav, six countries' high commissioners were present. Kurukshetra is getting a makeover because it is a popular religious tourism destination, he said.
Khattar said the BJP-led government has made a grand statue in Kurukshetra depicting the vast form of Lord Krishna which is made from the amalgamation of soil from 574 districts of the country and built according to 574 verses of Bhagvat Gita.
Since 2016, the Haryana government has been commemorating the International Gita Mahotsav. This year's festival will begin on December 2 and will run through December 19. He noted that the main events will take place from December 9 to 14.
