The state government of Haryana has changed its reservation rules for MD and MS courses in medical colleges.  There were only 31 seats out of 156 for the general category, now it has been increased to 84. In this regard, the Director of Haryana Medical Education gave an affidavit in the Punjab Haryana High Court that the rules for reservation of seats in the state have been amended. According to the new rules, out of the total 156 seats, 84 have been reserved for general category, while 30 for SC class, 26 for BCA class and 16 seats for BCB class.

On this reply of the government, the High Court said that now the demand of the petitioner has been fulfilled and there is no justification for the petition. In such a situation, the High Court resolves the petition. Hearing this petition, the High Court had issued an order prohibiting the counselling of MD and MS courses in colleges in Haryana. Counselling was to be held on May 4 and 5 for admission to these courses.
