Chandigarh: The Manohar Lal Khattar government of Haryana will bring the Love Jihad (anti-conversion) bill in the upcoming budget session of the assembly and important bills over damaging government and private properties during demonstrations by rioters. State Home Minister Anil Vij recently led a meeting of a committee set up to draft a bill on religious conversion, stating, "With the enactment of this law any attempt to force religious conversion for marriage will be stopped.” He further said that strict action will be taken against the culprits.

A bill against damage to government and private property will also be brought in the next session and a tribunal will be set up under this framework. He said that recovery will be done within one year in respect of damage to government and private properties, which may also include the organizers of the event. The draft committee constituted to outline the conversion bill includes TL Satyaprakash, Secretary, Home Department, Additional Director General of Police Navdeep Singh Virk and Additional Advocate General Deepak Manchanda.

In November last year, Haryana had announced that it was setting up a three-member committee to draft a law against "Love Jihad". The announcement comes days after the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government approved a draft ordinance.
