Haryana to mark Guru Tegh Bahadur’s 400th prakash purab on Sunday

Haryana:   On April 24 Sunday, the Haryana government will hold a major event in Panipat to commemorate the 400th Parkash Purab of the ninth Sikh Guru Tegh Bahadur.

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had earlier announced this during a news conference.

A cleanliness campaign was carried out in Panipat on Friday morning as part of the event preparations, in order to keep the city clean and avoid any inconvenience to the Sangat who will attend the celebrations.The event was attended by Member of Parliament Sanjay Bhatia, Member of the Legislative Assembly Mahipal Dhanda, MLA Pramod Vij, and District Deputy Commissioner Sunil Sarwan.

Officials from the CMO believe that about a lakh people would attend the event. A grand pandal has been planned over an extent of two lakh square feet in 25 acres of field. A delegation from the Haryana government visited Amritsar ahead of the event to bring the holy water from the Golden Temple lake for the occasion.

The event would be attended by Chief Minister Khattar and his cabinet, the Leader of the Opposition, representatives of all political parties in the state, and Sant Samaj. Ragi and Dhadi, two Sikh musicians from around the country, will perform at the occasion.

Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth Guru of the Sikh religion, reigning from April 1, 1621 until November 11, 1675. The event will focus on Guru Tegh Bahadur's teachings, who gave his life to safeguard religion and human values, ideals, and beliefs throughout history. On the command of Mughal king Aurangzeb, he was executed for supporting Kashmiri Pandits' religious independence.
