The much-awaited tournament The ICC circket world cup 2019 has been strated from today. The event started with the clast with South Africa and host Englands. In this match, opener Hashim Amla is on the verge of breaking Virat Kohli’s long-standing record of being the fastest player to get to 8000 ODI runs.

The South African opener Amla will be playing the opener between South Africa and England at the Kennington Oval in London and the veteran batsman is just 90 runs away from the 8000 ODI-run mark and if he manages to achieve the feat against the ‘hot favourites’ England on Thursday, then he will beat  Indian skipper Virat Kohli to  become the fastest batsman to score 8000 ODI runs.

Amla is the record holder for being the fastest batsman to score 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 ODI runs and will eye the 8000-run mark in the 2019 World Cup opener. Amla will also become the fourth South African batsman to touch the iconic milestone.

Kohli reached the landmark in 175 ODI innings whereas Amla has so far taken 171 innings to come close to Kohli’s feat. Former Proteas cricketers AB de Villiers, Herschelle Gibbs and Jacques Kallis are the other batsmen to have romped past the milestone during their playing days.
