Kochi: An activist of the country's banned extremist Islamist organization Popular Front of India (PFI) has been detained in connection with a viral video of a child raising hateful slogans against people belonging to Hindu and Christian communities in Kerala. He had brought the child to a massive rally organized by the PFI in Kerala's Alappuzha district on Saturday and the child was raised with slogans.

The matter came into the limelight after the video went viral on social media. Hate slogans were raised against Hindus and Christians in the video. The massive rally was organized by the radical Islamist group as part of its 'Save the Republic' campaign. Hours before the PFI rally, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activists took out a bravery rally and said that the country cannot be handed over to anti-nationals and terrorists. Police registered a case against Alappuzha district president Navas Vandanam and district secretary Mujeeb and another person who held the child during the rally for inciting the minor boy to raise provocative slogans against other religious groups.

Following the incident, the Kerala Child Rights Commission registered a case and sought an action taken report from the Alappuzha district police chief within seven days. Meanwhile, PFI leader and rally organizer Yahia Thangal said he would continue to oppose the RSS's agenda of turning India into a graveyard for democracy.
