Camila Cabello, a singer and actress, has made history!! The 24-year-old Spanish singer took to Instagram to congratulate herself on the massive success of her song Havana. “I am HONORED to be the first Hispanic female singer to receive a @riaa awards Diamond single award, and I hope this opens the door for many more amazing Latinx artists!!!” Camila wrote with the announcement. Thank you so much to my brilliant co-writers and producers Frank Dukes, Ali Tamposi, Andrew Watt, Pharrell, Lou Bell, Brian Lee, Starrah, and Young Thug for working with me on this. Thank you to all of my wonderful fans; I adore you.”

If you didn't know, the RIAA Gold & Platinum programme honours musicians and measures sound recording sales. These awards have been a standard of success for artists over the last few years! And we're overjoyed that Camila has joined the list! When an artist sells 500,000 minimum units, they get gold status, while one million earns platinum. When a song reaches 10 million downloads, it gets upgraded to diamond status. This means Camila is celebrating her Diamond single achievement for reaching 10 million hits with Havana!

Last month, the Havana singer opened out about finding calm in the midst of the epidemic. Camila said in an interview with People magazine, "I feel that that essential, forced halt [lockdown] just pushed me to reconsider my life. It gave me the opportunity to reevaluate what makes me happy and what is essential to me. In many respects, I believe it saved my life."
