KILAUEA has now arrived the eighth week of its explosion, causing destruction to Big Island’s countryside.

Now the question why is Kilauea plagued with earthquakes?

Since Kilauea commenced to erupt, thousands of earthquakes have stunned Big Island, the bulk of these focused around the peak.

More than 600 possessions have been smashed because of lava flows and thousands of residents have to send away and forced to hang in emergency shelters.

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) has analyzed shocking 664 earthquakes on Big Island in the past 24 hours alone.

As the earthquakes rock the peak, the structure within Kilauea has gnarled causing the Halema’uma’u hollow to fall down inside the volcano.

As per the HVO, As the crater walls and inner caldera sagged inward, the depth of Halema‘uma‘u has more than tripled and the diameter has more than twofold.

It is noted that Before May, about 10 earthquakes per day were usual at the peak, but as of late June 2018, there are about 600 earthquakes positioned in the same area on a daily basis.

Worth mention here many of these earthquakes are tough enough to be felt, and some can be harmful. These earthquakes are reasonably causing apprehension, especially in Volcano Village and neighboring subdivisions.

These earthquakes are prominently due to the rock in the hollow floor reacting to the molten lava demanding from below the peak.
