But for renowned real estate broker and marketer Lailan Bento, there was no other option.

Growing up in Hawaii where opportunities were few and far between, Lailan knew she was going to make it no matter what.

And she did.

She is the co-founder andthe principal broker at ‘Hawaiߵi Development Group’, one of the top real estate firms in the state.Over her leadership, the company has built a reputation for offering affordable and sustainable homes.

Lailan was the recipient of “The Rookie of the Year” which cemented her position in the real estate industry andspoke to her unmatched strategies based on Hawaiian culture and housing.  Her exceptional work ethic, transparency, dedication, andhonesty, make her stand out in this highly competitive sector.

Her entrepreneurial spirit has also served her in her ability to give back to her home.

Since the dawn of her career, Bento has yearned to help the less privileged in her community.

Earlier on in her career she also worked at the Hawaiian Governor’s office where she was exposed to the harsh realities of the less privileged communities. These communities were facing a lack of proper education, housing, and upward mobility.

This reminded Lailan of her early days being a young, uneducated minority woman running a real estate company. But nothing was going to stop her, regardless of the challenges she faced along the way with many people judging her on her looks, age, skin color, and gender.

Today, she is one of the top Female investors in the Hawaii real estate industry, helping others find their success. Most recently she founded a non-profit group that seeks to raise funds to send local kids to private schools and colleges. She aims to help them acquire the best education available and make their dreams a reality.

Lailan says she aims to do things differently while keeping her community at the forefront, ensuring it benefits from all her developments. This includes bringing transparency and authenticity to the Hawaii real estate industry. To her, everyone deserves the best chance of making their dreams a reality.Lailan started three new companies in 2022 through which she aims to build sustainable developments while using her skills and financial gains to help her community.
