HDFC bank's CMO gets placed in Forbes list of 'The World's most influential CMOs'

Ravi Santhanam, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of HDFC Bank occupied 39th position in the Forbes list of ‘The World’s Most Influential CMOs’. He is the only CMO from an Indian company to be featured in the list that included CMOs of APPLE, BMW, Lego, Adobe, Microsoft, P&G few among others. Forbes along with their research partners Sprinklr and LinkedIn released this eighth edition of the list. 427 global eligible CMOs were considered for this year listing. The list has been generated using the data from news reports, websites, and social networks as a measure of the influence.

Forbes in its editorial has written about him as “Santhanam is a marketing leader who prioritizes personalized and relevant customer experience and believes that machine learning and data science are critical tools for marketers; he expressed so in a recent blog. And he led the Indian bank’s response to the coronavirus outbreak, launching the #HDFCBankSafetyGrid campaign to help people keep a safe distance in public. He also led the creation of the inspirational “Hum Haar Nahi Maanenge” music video about overcoming adversity, featuring Indian musical talent”. Santhanam about his listing expressed his happiness and said, “I am humbled to be a part of Forbes’ list of influential CMOs. This recognition is a reflection of how the bank came together during an unprecedented situation to launch several unique initiatives. When the lockdown was declared we were determined to play our part, as a socially responsible corporate citizen, in ensuring the health and safety of our fellow citizens. We launched #HDFCBankSafetyGrid campaign when social distancing was the need of the hour to fight Covid-19”. 

Millward Brown of WPP Group Company judged HDFC bank as India’s ‘Most valuable Brand’ for seven consecutive years. HDFC marketing strategies received positive accolades in recent times. Few campaigns like #StopMithani to initiate blood donation awareness were launched by the bank. This was recognized globally at Cannes Lions 2019 and also was awarded at the Spikes 2019, APAC Effies 2019 and the Indian Effies 2019.
