This surgery is usually done on the buttocks, abdomen, thighs and face. Liposuction only removes fat, not salulite. This surgery is done by giving anesthesia. The surgeon makes a small cut and suction pump or a large syringe removes excess fat. How long it will take depends on how much fat is to be removed.

Types of liposuction: There are many different techniques of liposuction, among which 2 are most popular:

Tumescent liposuction: In this technique, a solution is applied to the fat areas of the body before surgery, which makes it easy to remove fat. This reduces bleeding and helps reduce pain before and after surgery. There is no age limit prescribed for liposuction. People of 60 years of age have also got good results of this. Both surgeries should be done by a professional doctor.

When liposuction is important

- For the treatment of people suffering from excessive sweating of the armpits.

- To reduce the size of certain body parts.

- To give perfect shape to the body after pregnancy.

- To cure benign fatty tumors.

- To reduce fat from places like chin, neck and face where it is difficult to remove fat.

- for curvy tummy.

Risk Factors: There is some risk in all surgeries. If liposuction is done by a specially trained cosmetic surgeon, it gives good results and the risk is minimal. Most people can start their normal activities after 2 weeks of surgery. However, there are some risks associated with this:

- Very few cases of skin infection are seen, but serious skin infection can also result in death.

Loose pieces of fat get trapped in the blood vessels and collect in the lungs or reach the brain, this is called fat embolism which is a medical emergency.

- Kidney and heart problems.

- Skin gets high and discolored.

- Generally, the greatest risk in liposuction is infection.

- For a few weeks, there may be swelling and pain.

- The skin becomes rough, its flexibility decreases.

- The accumulation of fluid in the temporary pockets called seromas under the skin, which is removed from the needle.

- Permanent or temporary numbness in the affected area.
