New Delhi: Bharat Biotech's intranasal corona vaccine has been granted emergency use authorisation by the Drugs Controller General of India. Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has announced this. Let us know that this is India's first corona vaccine given through the nose.

About a fortnight ago, the third clinical trial of Corona's BBV-154 intranasal vaccine has been completed. At that time, Bharat Biotech had reported that the nasal coronavirus vaccine, BBV154, has proved to be safe, better tolerated and immunogenic in controlled clinical trials of Phase III.

According to the report, it was reported by the company that about 4000 volunteers were tested and not a single side effect was seen. The Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) had given the green signal for clinical trials of the intranasal vaccine as the first booster dose. The company had pointed out that any injectable vaccine only protects the lower part of the body, while the nasal vaccine provides protection to the entire body. At the same time, before it was approved, AIIMS's Dr Sanjay Rai had said that if the nasal vaccine is going to provide mucosal immunity, it will be a great achievement for the entire human race.
