New Delhi: The Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan will chair a video conference to assess the status of vaccinations and to direct the States and Union Territories regarding the precaution dose mission throughout the course of the next 75 days, a report said on Thursday.
The central government on Wednesday announced the launching of a special 75-day campaign to administer the Covid-19 vaccine's booster/precaution dose to above 18 years old free of cost at all government vaccination centres.
The COVID-19 vaccine is effective tool to fight against coronavirus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on a micro-blogging site, which reads: "Vaccination is a powerful tool in the combat against COVID-19. Today's Cabinet decision -- of free precaution dose for all adults -- will further boost India's vaccination coverage and create a healthier nation."
"The decision will increase security and enhance India's defence against COVID-19! I implore everyone who are entitled to take their precautionary dose as soon as possible "said Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, the minister of health and family welfare for the union.
Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur said that "The scheme will be rolled out from July 15 and continue for the next 75 days."
The Center began its "Har Ghar Dastak 2.0" door-to-door campaign on June 1 in an effort to enhance vaccination rates. A programme called "Har Ghar Dasak Campaign 2.0" was launched on Wednesday with the focus of boosting vaccination rates throughout all of the nation's states and union territories (UTs) and raising awareness of the beneficiaries.
