New Delhi:The Supreme Court on Thursday heard the issue of air pollution in Delhi-NCR. During the hearing, the Air Quality Management Commission (AQMC) informed the apex court that a decision on reopening of schools and lifting the ban on construction activities will be taken by tomorrow.

On this, Chief Justice (CJI) N V Ramana said that today's air quality is quite poor. On this, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that it has improved as compared to earlier. The apex court directed the Air Quality Management Commission to set up a group of experts to look into the suggestions received from people and experts to find a permanent solution to the pollution problem.

The next hearing in the case in the Supreme Court will be held in the first week of February. The apex court has expressed satisfaction over the steps taken by the Commission. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that milk dairy and medical factories have been allowed to be opened, life saving units have also been allowed to manufacture. SG Tushar Mehta further said that as per discussions with the Power Ministry, the thermal power plants which are closed will remain closed. Hospitals have been allowed to be constructed, all other construction works will continue to be stopped.
