New Delhi: The Supreme Court deferred hearing on the petition filed on behalf of 17 rebel MLAs from Karnataka on Tuesday i.e. Now the matter will be heard today i.e. on Wednesday. Rebels of Congress-JD (S) legislators have challenged the case of disqualification under the anti-defection law. The case is being heard by a three-judge bench headed by Justice NV Ramana. Rebel MLAs have also demanded interim permission to contest 15 assembly seats in Karnataka in December.

The then Speaker of Karnataka Ramesh Kumar disqualified these rebel MLAs. After this, his membership was ended and the assembly seats were vacated. Earlier these seats were to be held on October 21, but later the Election Commission changed the dates to December 5. Let us tell that these MLAs played an important role in toppling the Congress-JDS coalition government. The coalition government fell after losing the support of these legislators.
