Supreme Court: Hearing on petitions against abrogation of Article 370 today

Jammu: Shortly before Tuesday, the Supreme Court will hear all the petitions filed against the abolition of Article 370 giving special status to Jammu and Kashmir. For this, a constitutional bench of five judges has been formed. It is headed by Justice NV Raman. The Constitutional Bench also includes Justice SK Kaul, Justice R Subhash Reddy, Justice BR Gavai, and Justice Suryakant. Earlier on 14 November, the bench refused to pass any interim order on the petitions. At the same time, hearing that there may be a delay in hearing, and told that the Supreme Court will give a decision on all the issues related to this matter after hearing all the parties together. On the other hand, Justice NV Raman on Monday directed Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Senior Advocate Raju Ramachandran to come up with preparation on the case. The petitioners were also asked to submit all the petitions and the documents given in it simultaneously. This will facilitate hearing.

Sources say that Mehta told that all the petitions have been taken together, but if some new documents are also given, then they will be added later. The Supreme Court also asked the Center to respond to two other petitions filed on the same matter. At the same time, barring these two, the new petitions were banned from filing.
Who is the petitioner

On behalf of the National Conference, Lok Sabha MP Mohammad Akbar Lone and Justice (retd) Hasnain Masudi, J&K People's Conference Sajjad Lone, CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf objected to the government's decision of August 5 in the petition. Justice Masudi, who retired in 2015, described Article 370 as a permanent part of the Constitution.

A petition has been filed by former defense officers and bureaucrats. Among them, Prof. remained in the negotiating group of the Ministry of Home Affairs in 2010-11. Radha Kumar, former IAS officer of Jammu and Kashmir cadre, Hindal Haider Tyabji, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Kapil Kak, Major General (Retd) Ashok Kumar Mehta, former IAS officer of Punjab cadre.
