How much is the water of rivers This thing can be gauged by looking at the attitude of Punjab. In Punjab, the atmosphere on water has again become hot. Punjab has said that it cannot give water of its rivers to other states under any circumstances. The all-party meeting convened by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh regarding the deepening water crisis in Punjab remained limited only on the river water dispute. All the parties said that there is no water in the rivers of Punjab to be given to other states. The Central Government should understand this matter seriously. Captain Amarinder said that the central government should not give water to the rivers of Punjab to any other state.

According to the media report, no resolution was passed regarding the Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) canal in the meeting, but all parties including the Akali Dal and AAP said that the construction of the SYL canal would be fatal for Punjab. Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal of the Akali Dal has even said that if the SYL canal is built, terrorism in Punjab can return again.

In his statement Grewal said that he is repeating the statement of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in which he said that the violence can increase in Punjab due to the construction of SYL canal and there is a possibility of terrorism coming back. He said that all parties need to unite and fight on this issue. It is noteworthy that the SYL canal dispute between Punjab and Haryana is more than four decades old. The matter has been in the Supreme Court for a long time and the court has already warned to resolve the dispute.
