Lucknow: Friday is the warmest day of this month in northern India. The temperture has crossed 45 degrees in most places. In the Sriganganagar area of Rajasthan, breaking the record of 75 years of the month of May, the mercury touched 49.6 degree Celsius, while Churu was also at 48.5 degree Celsius. Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj recorded a temperature of 48.8 degrees Celsius.

According to sources, temperature also crossed the 45-degree mark in May for the first time in 7 years in Delhi. In Faridabad, the day temperature was 45 and in Gurargram it was 45.1 degree Celsius. The Meteorological Department has issued red warning for the residents of Delhi. It is released when the weather is likely to be at the worst level.

According to the Meteorological Department, temperature has increased especially in Himachal Pradesh. In Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana (including Delhi and Chandigarh), Uttar Pradesh and Western Rajasthan, the temperature was much higher than normal and in East Rajasthan the temperature was normal. During the next three days, the scorching heat and humidity will increase, whereas in the southern part of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, dust storms can occured.
