Heat wave wreaks havoc in Bihar, 112 killed

Patna: The heat wave in Bihar has worsened the situation and more than 112 people were killed in the heat wave on Sunday. The highest number of deaths have been recorded in Aurangabad, Nawada, Patna, East Bihar, Rohtas, Jehanabad and Bhojpur districts. The heat wave has claimed more than 173 lives in the past two days. More than 300 patients have been admitted to hospitals in Gaya, Nawada and Aurangabad.

However, the number of new patients is increasing continuously. 28 people died on Sunday in Gaya district alone. Most of the people who died due to heat wave are reported to be over 60 years old. The heat wave has brought the death toll to such a large number of people to a great proportion. The state government has deployed additional doctors for patients in all the affected districts. Besides, additional tankers have been installed in villages and towns to provide potable water.

Meanwhile, the problems of patients may further aggravate if doctors are on strike today in the affected areas. However, doctors have assured that they will treat the patients. According to doctors, the heat patients first get restless and then they faint. Then they die between half and a half hours. The cause of death is said to be a deficiency of glucose in the brain. Doctors have advised patients to get plenty of water.
