Jammu: Two more persons trapped in snowfall in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir lost their lives. After which the number of people dying due to bad weather in the Union Territory has now increased to five. However, officials said that two persons trapped in Sinthan Pass in the south Kashmir district were evacuated last night. The officials further said that the rescue team of officers of Civilians, Police, Army and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) with the help of machinery covered with snow and fog and covered a distance of 30 km and travelled 8 km to reach the spot.

He also said, "On October 24, at 5.30 a.m., a body was found on the occasion, while another person died during return.'' Officials said two persons are safe and are undergoing hypothermia and shock treatment. Moderate to heavy snowfall occurred on Saturday in some parts of the valley, especially in the high altitude areas of south Kashmir.

He also said that due to snowfall and rain that started late on Friday night, a tent built by nomads at Noorpora in the Tral area of Pulwama district was hit by a landslide in which three persons including two women died and one person was seriously injured. Officials said the nomads were from the Reasi district of the Jammu division.
