New Delhi: Many parts of the country have been badly hit by the heavy rains in Monsoon these days. North-East India and Bihar have been severely affected by this heavy rain. The death toll in Assam flood has risen to 62 as of Saturday night. According to statistics, a total of 12 people have lost their lives due to floods in the past 24 hours.

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, the flood water has started receding in the state and the number of flood-affected districts has now come down to 24. However, 12 more people were killed in flood-caused incidents in the state on Saturday. A total of 59 people have now lost their lives due to the flood in the state.

The state is still submerged 1.51 lakh hectares of crops while most of the Kaziranga National Park is submerged. The park, protected as a World Heritage Site, has killed 129 animals since July 13 due to flooding, including 10 rare Indian single-horned rhinos. These include 62 hog deer, 8 sambar deer, 8 bears, 5 swamp deer, two saws, one elephant and one wild buffalo.

In 3024 villages of the state, 44,08,142 people are still affected due to floods. Like Assam, Bihar is in a bad shape due to floods.  So far, five more people have died due to floods. In Punjab also, the flood-like situation has been created in seven districts due to rising water level. In Tamil Nadu, at present, two people were killed on Saturday while 4 persons, including 3 fishermen, are missing due to heavy rains in Kerala. Kudule in Kasargur district recorded more than 30 centimeters of rain on Saturday.
