BANGALORE: For the next two days, 12 Karnataka districts are expected to see severe rain, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Residents of Bangalore awoke on Saturday to overcast conditions, and the prediction has already sparked anxiety among the public in the aftermath of the recent floods.

The city's Mahadevapura and Bommanahalli area, which are home to major IT and BT enterprises and a substantial portion of techies from around the nation, have been severely disrupted by the nonstop downpours.

For the north Karnataka districts of Bagalkot, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Raichur, and Vijayapura, a yellow alert has been issued. The south Karnataka districts of Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapur, Kolar, Ramnagar, and Tumakuru will also see rain. Central Karnataka's Chitradurga and Davangere districts were also on yellow alert.

It's also expected that the coastal region, which recently saw considerable rains, may get light showers.
Here are major IMD predictions from October-December:

* The Possibility of normal rainfall during the Northeast Monsoon Season (October to December 2022) over the southern peninsula of India, which includes Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikkal, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Kerala, Mahe, and south interior Karnataka, is high (88-112% of the Long Period Average (LPA)).

* The majority of India is anticipated to see above-average precipitation, with the exception of a few locations in the northwest and a few in the northeast.

* Most of India is projected to see above-average rainfall in October 2022, with the exception of a few isolated pockets in the southernmost and northernmost regions. In the entire nation, monthly rainfall in October 2022 is most likely to be above average (>115% of the Long Period Average) (LPA).

* Above normal minimum temperatures are anticipated for the majority of the nation, with the exception of several regions in Northwest India and the southern portions of Peninsular India.
