Lucknow: Roads in several parts of the district have been submerged following heavy rains in Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. After an hour of rain, Shri Vishwanath's city Kashi appeared submerged. The municipal drainage system appeared to have failed due to the rains. The government has also spent crores of rupees on drainage systems, but the administration's measures did not seem to be effective.

People faced problems due to waterlogging in many areas due to rain. Whether it was Godowlia to Dashashwamedh route or church or a new road, roads started to look like seas. Passersby and motorists had to pass through water up to the knee and somewhere up to the waist. People were seen crossing the water risking their lives, and the streets were flooded and there was public outrage. He lashed out at the municipal corporation and the local administration. The roads and streets of Banaras were flooded, leakage drains also added to the woes of the people.

However, people must have been relieved of the humidity due to the rains. The maximum temperature was recorded at 33.4 degrees Celsius after the rains, while the minimum temperature was 26 degrees Celsius. The Met department has predicted that rain is likely to occur in Banaras for a few more days. Power supply has also been disrupted in many areas due to rain and bad weather.
