Heavy rains killed four people in Gujarat's Morbi district

MORBI: On Monday, June 13, 2022, three members of a family were killed after a wall of their house collapsed due to heavy rains in Gujarat's Morbi district, police said.

The victims were sleeping in their house in Sundaribhavani village, Halvad taluka, when the incident occurred late Sunday night. When their house wall fell, the victims - a woman, her husband, and the latter's brother - suffered serious injuries and died on the spot. They were between the ages of 25 and 30, according to a Halvad police official.
According to the official, police arrived at the scene after being warned by several residents and sent the bodies to a Morbi hospital for postmortem.

Another woman was killed after being struck by lightning in the district's Jhikiyari village on Sunday evening, according to another official.

According to the State Emergency Operations Centre, rain or thundershowers were reported in 91 talukas in Gujarat in the 24-hour period ending at 6 a.m. on Monday (SEOC). 

It claimed 11 talukas in districts such as Mahisagar, Junagadh, Amreli, and Dahod received 25 to 75 mm of rain. As per SEOC data, Halvad, Vankaner, and Tankara talukas in Morbi district got rainfall.
