The ever gorgious “Anarkali” of Bollywood, Bina Roy aka Krishna Sarin was born on 13 July, 1932 in Lahore.

 The renowned actress of the “Black and white” era debut with the movie “Kali Ghata” co-staring Kishore Sahu.

During the British reign, due major communal turmoils, Bina’s family had to shift to Uttar Pradesh.

She completed her studies from the Isabella Thoburn College, Lucknow and later moved to Bombay to pursue Acting.

In an interview Bina revealed about her parents being reluctant to let her act in films. She also confessed that she had to perform a hunger strike to convince them and let her move to Bombay.

Known for her pretty smile, Bina Rai gave certain hit classics like Anarkali, Ghunghat, Taj Mahal and many more.

She won the Filmfare best actress award for the movie “Ghunghat” in 1961.

She married her co-star Prem Nath from the movie “Aurat” on September 2, 1952.

“Aurat” was the Bollywood remake of the tragic biblical tale “samson and delilah”.

 The couple had two sons, Prem Kishan and Kailash.

Due to a reported Cardiac arrest, Bina Roy died on december 6, 2009 at the age of 77.

The Late actress shall always be remembered for her unmatched acting skills.
