The recent crimes tend to shock us. The Crime Branch in Kerala has taken over the inquiry in the death case of Ramsi, a 24-year-old woman who died by committing suicide, supposedly after her fiancé, Haaris Muhammad called an end to their engagement. The case was shifted from the Kottiyam police to the Kollam Crime Branch on Sunday, police officials approved. Ramsi’s family had earlier urged Kollam City Police Commissioner for an examination by the Crime Branch, as they were afflicted with the investigation. Their request has now been taken up.

The 24-year old committed suicide on 3rd September and a week later, the police investigated Lakshmi Pramod, a television actor, who is the sister-in-law of Ramsi’s fiancé Haaris. The police also arrested Haaris after he was charged for alleged rape, abetment to suicide and causing a pregnant woman to miscarry. Harris's family too has come under the observation following Ramsi’s death.  As per Ramsi’s family, she and Harris had been in an 8-year-long relationship and got engaged in 2019.

However, he supposedly made plans to marry another woman, leaving Ramsi frustrated.  Lakshmi Pramod, Haaris’s sister-in-law, was investigated by the police as Ramsi’s family had claimed that Ramsi had become pregnant once and Lakshmi had accompanied her for an abortion. The family also alleged that Harris had taken money and jewelry from them for many years. Following the 24-year-old’s death, the developments in the case were closely followed on social media and several protests had erupted which led to investigations picking up pace in the case.
