Aloe vera gel is widely known to relieve sunburn and help heal wounds. But did you know that your favorite potted plant can be used for much more than just sunburn relief

Minerals

Aloe vera gel contains at least nine minerals, which are needed to make enzyme systems and metabolism function properly. Among the standouts in aloe vera are calcium, the key component in bones, teeth and cell signaling; zinc, selenium and magnesium, all essential for as many as 300 metabolic functions; and chromium, which enhances the insulin that provides cells with energy. Aloe vera also contains copper, manganese, potassium, and sodium.

Enzymes

The product contains enzymes  that actively help in the break down of food during digestion process. These enzymes include: amylase for starch break down, lipase for breaking down fats and oils, protease that turns proteins into harmless amino acids and cellulose for digestion of vegetables.

Vitamins

Aloe Vera is one of the only known natural vegetarian sources of Vitamin B12, however it appears there are only trace amounts of B12 at best in Aloe Vera. Aloe vera is also a source of vitamins A, C,E, folic acid, choline, B1, B2, B3 (niacin), and B6. Aloe vera is naturally rich in vitamin C, which helps maintain tone of blood vessels and promotes good circulation and is essential to the health of the adrenal gland which supports our body in times of stress.
