New Delhi: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has got a big success in the capital of the country. On May 10, about 62 kg of heroin has been recovered from an air cargo at the Delhi airport, the value of which is being said to be around Rs 434 crore in the illegal market. This is one of the biggest ever seizure of heroin in India through courier, cargo or air mode. The DRI had received an input regarding this consignment of drugs. After which a campaign was launched on 10 May, which was named 'Black and White'.

When the team reached the spot, 55 kg heroin was found from a trolley bag kept in a cargo here. This large consignment of drugs was transported from Uganda to Delhi via Dubai. After confiscating this consignment of heroin, the DRI team took one of the accused into custody and started interrogation. On the basis of the interrogation of this ruler, raids were also conducted in Punjab and Haryana. In this raid, 7 kg heroin and Rs 50 lakh cash were recovered. In this way, the DRI recovered 62 kg of drugs, the total value of which is being estimated to be around Rs 434 crore in the illegal market. Those who have been taken into custody are being questioned.

According to the DRI, a total of 330 trolley bags were kept in the cargo. The seized heroin was kept hidden inside the hollow metal of 126 trolley bags. It was very difficult to find out. DRI seized more than 3300 kg of heroin across the country in the year 2021. Apart from this, since January 2022, DRI has seized 34 kg heroin in Delhi, 201 kg from Mundra Port, 392 kg from Pipavav Port. In the last three months, many cases have been registered, in which more than 60 kg heroin has been recovered from air passengers.
