Amritsar: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP functionaries are feared to be attacked by terrorists in Panjab. According to intelligence sources, other terror outfits, including Khalistani fundamentalists, may attack religious places in Punjab, including BJP, RSS leaders. A high alert has been articulated in Punjab after receiving this information. Punjab Police has beefed up security outside and within religious places. At the same time, the security of the BJP and the RSS office has also been enhanced.

There have been many recent developments. A few days ago, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh held a meeting with PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Punjab Police had then recovered a large number of explosives and weapons from a village along the Pakistan border in Amritsar. Some banned Khalistani organizations have threatened Punjab's CM, Punjab DGP, that they will be responsible for their death if they hoist the tricolor in the state on August 15.

The Khalistani militants have also threatened the Chief Ministers of Himachal and Haryana. Captain Amarinder Singh has told the Central government that incidents of drone flying in border districts and anger among farmers over agricultural laws have become a headache from the point of view of Punjab's security.
