Bangalore: A larger bench of the High Court will hear today the ongoing controversy over the wearing of the burqa in educational institutions in Karnataka. On Wednesday, a single bench of the court had transferred the case to a larger bench. Meanwhile, Yasmin Nigar, the granddaughter of Abdul Ghaffar Khan, has said that uniform code should be followed in schools. She is also the chief of the All India Pakhtun Jirga-e-Hind. Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has termed the recent controversy over the burqa as a criminal conspiracy.

Naqvi has called the politicians in this matter to be related to Pakistan. Along with this, he has told those who give importance to this matter, who are thinking of defaming India. Naqvi further said that the ongoing ruckus on the hijab is a criminal conspiracy. This is a deceptive promotion of the dress code. Every institution has every right to enforce its own dress code. It is a symbol of discipline and courtesy. Pakistan is always ready to engage in affairs with such groups that curse India.

Yasmin Khan, head of the All India Pakhtun Jirga-e-Hind, has backed the uniform code, saying that if you cover yourself in school with a burqa or a hijab, it will become an issue of identity. I think a scarf can be worn instead of covering the whole face. "When people go to Mecca for Haj, some people wear burqas, some don't. There should not be a debate on this. Everyone in schools should be equal and follow religion only to an extent.''
