Hijab controversy: Section 144 imposed in 9 districts of Karnataka

Bangalore: The hijab controversy in Karnataka is not taking the name of stopping. The Basavaraj Bommai government of the state has now announced to impose Section 144 in the Tumakuru district also. This step has been taken as a precautionary measure after the reopening of colleges here. It is the endeavour of the administration to prevent any kind of violence around educational institutions. So far, Section 144 has been imposed in a total of 9 districts in the state.

This order will be applicable at a distance of 200 meters from all educational institutions. Earlier, the Udupi district administration had imposed Section 144, saying that the rule will remain in force around the high school located in all areas till February 19. So far, Section 144 has been imposed in Bagalkot, Bengaluru, Chikkabalapura, Gadak, Shimoga, Mysore and South Karnataka. With this, the Karnataka government has banned all kinds of rallies and demonstrations.

At the same time, pasting of slogans, playing songs and giving speeches has also been banned. State Education Minister B C Nagesh had announced that all pre-university colleges and degree colleges that were closed during the protest over the hijab will reopen from February 16. The police force has been deployed near several cities and schools to prevent any kind of controversy.
