Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has taken a huge lead of over 31,000 votes in the Seraj seat. While Jai Ram Thakur got 43,711 votes, his nearest rival and Congress candidate Chetram could get only 11,923 votes. In terms of vote share, Jairam came first with around 76.5 percent votes and Chetram got only 20.87 percent votes.  

Interestingly, CPM candidate Mahendra Rana got more votes than Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Geeta Anand. The AAP got 278 votes and the CPM got 689 votes. Counting of votes is underway at 68 counting centers spread over 59 places in Himachal Pradesh.  

In Himachal Pradesh, there has traditionally been a fight between the BJP and the Congress, but this time the close contest between the BJP and the Congress seems to be trapped in the power match in Himachal. Around 76.44 percent voting was recorded in all the 68 assembly seats in the state on November 12, in which the political fate of 412 candidates was captured in EVMs. Of these, 388 are male and 24 are female candidates.
