Shimla: The rainy season is going on in the country, and during this time the rain has not knocked in many places. Meanwhile, the fall armyworm kit in Himachal has slackened the crop of maize in the sluggish monsoon. In Mandi, Shimla, Kangra and Una cities, 25 to 30 percent of the crops have been destroyed by pests. The Department of Agriculture has issued an alert with advisory. Dr Atul Dogra, deputy director of the Agriculture Department, said in his statement that pests are more active due to less rainfall.

So far, a loss of Rs 25.65 crore has been seen in Una. This insect lays eggs on the lower leaves of plants as a butterfly moth. They made the plants their food. After eating the leaves, they make long holes running parallel to them, after which, the entire leaf is eaten. The outbreak of fall armyworm pest that has reached North India through seeds from South India is increasing continuously.

The Agriculture Department also gave the farmers the Ammictine Venzoate 5 SG (0.4 ml per litre of water) or  Flubendiamide 480 sc (0.4 ml per litre of water) or chlorantraniliprole 18.5 sc (0.4 ml per litre of water) or spinoside (0.3 ml per litre of water). Measures have been given for spraying. Do this spraying in the morning or in the evening, and spray again at an interval of 15 days.
