Snow wreaks havoc in Himachal Pradesh, 2 boys killed

Shimla: Heavy snowfall in Himachal Pradesh has worsened the situation. While more than 700 roads, including 4 National Highways, have been closed in the state, 2 of the four trekking friends have died. Two injured were admitted to a hospital in Dharamshala amid snowfall late on Sunday night.

ASP Kangra Puneet Raghu has said that 4 boys had gone trekking and did not return till late in the evening. On learning of this, investigations were intensified in adverse circumstances, then the bodies of 2 boys were recovered the next day, Sunday, and the other two were found in a critical condition as they suffered severe injuries due to falling into a ditch from a high place. However, both are in stable condition and are undergoing treatment for the injured in the hospital.

Kangra DC Nipun Jindal has reported that 4 boys aged 16, 17 and 18 were said to have been missing since Saturday night near the slate warehouse. Search and rescue teams have traced the missing youths, but the region is facing challenges in evacuating them due to incessant snowfall.
