Manali: Around 200 tourists stranded in over 100 vehicles have been rescued due to fresh snowfall in Rohtang Pass and surrounding areas of Himachal Pradesh. The Border Road Organization, police, Rohtang Rescue Team and district administration jointly conducted rescue operations and took people to safe places.

It has been closed for traffic after fresh snowfall on the Manali-Leh route. Tourists and locals have been stranded due to snowfall. More than 100 people were trapped in buses, small vehicles. Manali's station house officer and his team together reviewed the situation. Police personnel and rescue teams evacuated people stranded in the snowfall. The district administration has instructed people not to cross the Rohtang Pass to avoid any unpleasant situation.

Giving details, Manali SDM Raman Garasanghi said, "Today, six inches of snowfall has been recorded in Rohtang Pass, as a result of which some buses of Himachal Road Transport Corporation were stuck in it. Those trapped in the snowfall have been safely evacuated". At the same time, the weather is showing different colours in Chamoli, where the sudden freezing of rain has caused a return, then there is snowfall daily at the same altitude.
