Shimla: Santosh Shailaja, the wife of former Himachal Pradesh CM Shanta Kumar, died early Tuesday due to coronavirus infection. Shailaja Kumar was undergoing treatment at Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda in Kangra district of the state. Former Himachal Chief Minister Shanta Kumar gave information about this and prayed to God to give peace to the departed soul and the family to bear this irreparable loss.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur has also expressed grief over Santosh Shailaja's death and prayed for the bereaved family. He has written in the tweet that I am deeply saddened to hear the sad news of the demise of Mrs Santosh Shailaja, wife of our senior leader and former CM respected Shanta Kumar. May God give peace to the departed soul and provide strength to the bereaved family to bear this unbearable grief.

Santosh Shailaja was found infected a few days ago, after which he was admitted to the hospital. A day after she was found infected, she was admitted to Tanda Hospital on Saturday. Four other members of her family, her personal secretary, security officer and driver have also been found infected. PM Modi spoke to her on Sunday to know the well-being of her and family.
