Shimla: A seven-storey edifice collapsed in the Kachchaghati area of Himachal Pradesh's capital Shimla last Thursday evening due to a landslide. The debris of the building also reduced the two-storey edifice to the bottom of the hill and a house into a pile of debris. At the same time, half a dozen buildings are also under threat. However, the administration had vacated the seven-storey edifice before it collapsed. People from eight families living in the building were shifted to another place. The retaining wall was installed a few days ago. But on Wednesday (September 29, 2021), it also developed cracks. A house near its foundation collapsed due to a landslide. The corporation toilets built here were also converted into debris. The seven-storey edifice first stood crooked and rested on another adjoining building. Then in the evening, it shattered the railing and balcony of another building. This area of Kutchaghati is a syncing zone. Several multi-storey edifices have been constructed in the area adjoining the National Highway.
