Shimla: The state government will construct two new wheat grading centres in Una, Himachal Pradesh. Currently, two wheat grading centres are running in Una. The farmers of the city have earned Rs 4 crore by selling 12,500 quintal wheat crop at the rate of Rs 2500 per quintal. With the formation of two other grading centres, small to large farmers will be able to get more benefits.

The economy of the city farmers will also be improved with respect to the state. According to the statistics of the Agriculture Department, 40 to 50 thousand quintals of wheat is consumed in the state. This year 12,500 thousand quintal seeds were collected in Una. It is sent to Shimla, Chamba, Kullu, Hamirpur, Mandi, Bilaspur and Hamirpur in the state. The remaining wheat is brought from other regions which include Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Delhi, and other states including Punjab.

For this purpose, the state government spends money in crores but with the construction of these two grading centres, the government will save crores of rupees, and the farmers will get its benefit. An amount of Rs 1.20 crore has been released for the construction of the centres. Deputy Director of Agriculture, Dr Atul Dogra said that "The work of both grading centres in the city has been started, with old grading centres at the Dhandhadi office in Takarla and Pekhubela agricultural farm which will be prepared on a 300 square land. It will be much larger than the first one. The farmers will get a lot of benefits."
