Jaipur: In the case of stone pelting and arson at a Hindu rally in Karauli, Rajasthan, on Friday (April 8, 2022), the Ashok Gehlot government of Rajasthan ordered an administrative inquiry. Along with this, the Congress government of the state has asked to give a detailed investigation report in the matter within 15 days. The Rajasthan Police has done this after launching an 'impartial' investigation in the case and arresting 105 accused on the charge of inciting violence on April 2. But now Rajasthan Police is blaming Hindus for the violence.

Tension prevailed in the area after stone-pelting at a bike rally passing through a Muslim-dominated area on Saturday (April 2, 2022) on the occasion of Hindu New Year (Nav Samvatsar). 42 people, including policemen, were injured in the communal riots that broke out after local Muslims pelted stones at a rally of Hindus in the area. During the investigation of the case, initially the police had detained 30 people in this case and registered an FIR against 37 people for inciting violence. However, on 8 April 2022, the police tried to hold the Hindu rally responsible for the violence. The police tried to justify the matter by stating that "objectionable" songs were played during the rally, which led to stone pelting. On the Karauli violence, Rajasthan DGP Mohan Lal Lather said that the manner in which the procession was taken out for Nav Samvatsar was suspicious and objectionable songs were played in it, hence stone pelting took place.

According to Lather, except Hatwara market in Karauli, peace prevailed everywhere in the state and people celebrated the festival with harmony. The Chief of Rajasthan Police said, 'Such incident happened in Karauli as no procession was taken out in this area since 2015. The police had given permission to the organizers after monitoring the situation, but no permission was given for the DJ. Let us inform that after the attack on Hindus in Karauli, Congress councilor Matloob Ahmed is absconding. He is being said to be the mastermind of the violence on the Hindu New Year in a Muslim-dominated area. It is alleged that Matloob Ahmed had filed a case against Rajaram Gurjar, husband of BJP leader and Jaipur Mayor Soumya Gurjar, for his alleged involvement in the violence.

At the same time, the officials have also registered a case against the convener Neeraj Sharma, the state president of Hindu Sena, Sahab Singh Gurjar and former president of Nagar Parishad, Karauli, Rajaram Gurjar, who applied for permission for the rally. To avoid any untoward incident, 600 policemen, including 50 DSPs, have been deployed in the city. Curfew is in force and internet has also been shut down.
