Agartala: More than 300 people of the Hindu Jagran Manch protested on National Highway 8 in Udaipur in Gomti district of Tripura on Friday. According to media reports, the state president of the organization Uttam Dey said, "Love Jihad is a threat to our society." During the lockdown, 9 such cases were registered in various police stations of Tripura, including Boxnagar, Bisalgarh and Udaipur. However, the accused have not been arrested in any of these cases.

Uttam Dey claimed that the police and administration failed to stop the threat of religious conversion in the state. Only a law can protect it. An official of the Tripura Police Headquarters said that in the last 3-4 months, no case was registered in the state on the charges of "Love jihad". However, he said, two weeks ago a missing case was registered at Bishalgarh police station in which a Muslim boy was accused of kidnapping a Hindu girl.

According to the police, the girl was an adult and had gone to Bangalore with the boy of her age. In another incident, a case was registered in Boxanagar in Sepahijala district in October this year under sections 366 (a) and 376 of the IPC and section 4 of the POCSO Act.
