NEW YORK: ,A 52-year-old Hindu priest has attacked in the US. The attack took place near a temple in Florel Park in New York. This information is given in the local media report. Swami Harish Chander Puri said that at around 11 a.m. (local time) on Thursday morning, when he was near the Shiv Shakti bench, a man followed him and started hitting him.

Puri says he was beaten badly, after which he was taken to hospital for treatment. The attack on July 18 has caused a lot of injuries to the priest's body and face. Acting on the case, the police have arrested 52-year-old Sergio Gauvia. A number of cases have been registered against him, including torture. Police are now investigating whether the attack was linked to a hate crime.

Many who visit the temple regularly say they believe the priest has been targeted. At the time of the incident, people even heard the accused speaking loudly, saying, "This is my neighbourhood. These incidents have also been fueled by President Donald Trump's tweet that he made objectionable remarks on the Congressman of four non-American clerics of the Democratic Party.
