On December 11, 2014, June 21 was declared as the International Day of Yoga. The day was declared by United Nations General Assembly after the call for the adoption of June 21st as International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi.

History of International Yoga Day:
For the first time, yoga day was celebrated at Raj path while all the arrangements were managed by the ministry of AYUSH. On June 21, 2015, the yoga day was first celebrated. Globally, 21 yoga asanas were performed by the dignitaries from 84 nations which were accompanied by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In four years of the span, International Day of Yoga owns 2 Guinness World Records. The first record was for being the world's largest yoga class and featured by 35,985 people and the second one was for having a maximum number of participating nationalities that is 84.
