History of Ganesh Utsav in the streets of Begum Bazaar

Hyderabad: The city of Hyderabad is known for celebrating various festivals in a grand manner. And after Mumbai and Pune Ganesh Utsav is celebrated with great pomp in Hyderabad city. Thousands of pandals are built across the city. Which attract huge crowd during the festival. Every year a mass immersion program is organized by Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samiti in which a large number of people participate.

This year it has been observed that many such Bappa idols were installed with a unique innovation. Apart from the famous 40 feet tall Ganesh and Balapur Ganesh's famous laddus of the city of Khairatabad, these unconventional idols have their own history in the streets of Begum Bazaar. The Ganesh Visarjan program at Begum Bazar is being led by 'Wrestler Ganesh'. For the past four decades, the streets of Begum Bazar have been thronged by huge crowds and devotees are attracted to catch a glimpse of it with traditional wrestlers. The gigantic Ganesh idol, unique and proudly called 'Wrestler Ganesh', looks like a wrestler. Every year 'wrestler' Ganesh takes care of everyone.

Devotees of 25 feet tall Bappa are attracting devotees from all over Hyderabad. The idol, which bears the national flag and celebrates 75th Independence Day, was installed at Begum Bazar Chhatri to coincide with Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The idol of Ganapati wearing a doctor coat giving a commentary to the person remains a major attraction. One such statue is installed in Begum Bazar, a tribute to Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra. It is attracting more people, especially the youth. Ganesha can be seen holding a spear and the Olympic rings can be seen above the head.
