Srinagar: A dreaded terrorist of the Hizbul Mujahideen, a terror group, has collapsed in an encounter with security forces in Kupwara district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. In a tweet, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir region Vijay Kumar said, Mehrajuddin Halwai alias Ubaid, one of the oldest and most dreaded terrorists of the terrorist outfit Hizbul Mujahideen, has been killed in an encounter in Handwara.

According to Vijay Kumar's tweet, "He was involved in several terrorism related crimes. This is a great success". Police said, 'Security forces cordoned off the Area of Pajipora-Renan in Handwara district on Wednesday morning after receiving information that the militants were hiding'. Meanwhile, the militants fired on the security forces and the operation turned into an encounter. Officials said the confectionery was killed in retaliation by the security forces.

The Border Security Force (BSF) recently fired at a suspected Pakistani surveillance drone which was trying to enter Indian territory from the international border on Friday. Officials had said that on the alert, BSF had spotted a suspected drone in Arnia sector on the outskirts of Jammu at 4.25 am. BSF personnel fired half a dozen bullets to bring it down, after which the drone returned to Pakistan.
