Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested a suspected militant of Pakistani terrorist organization Hizbul Mujahideen on Thursday .According to police, he was planning to attack on Ganesh Chaturthi.

Director General of Police OP Singh shared the photo of terrorist with AK- 47 on social media. DGP said that The terrorist has been identified as Qamar-uz-Zama (37), a resident of Assam, and is an active member of Hizbul Mujahideen. DGP further informed that he was trained in Kishtwar in Jammu and Kashmir. He further added that they got a video from the mobile of terrorist which shows that they were planning to attack on a temple of Kanpur.

After receiving information from NIA , ATS arrested the terrorist in Kanpur Chakeri area.

Hizbul is believed to have become very active in recent months. Last month also the group has issued warning about possible infiltration bid from terror launch pads in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.

It could be a big attack if terrorist had succeed in his plan as the large volume of the people visit temples on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
