Hockey Rankings: India's hockey team climbs to third position at last ranking of the year

The Indian men's hockey team, which won a historic bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, finished third in the final FIH rankings of the year, while the fourth-ranked women's hockey team at the Olympics ended the year at 9th.

Indian team ranks 3rd: The Indian men's team led by Manpreet Singh, who won an Olympic medal after 41 years in Tokyo, has also clinched a bronze medal in the recent Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament in Bangladesh. India has moved up to the third spot with 2296.04 points.

Australia were first and Belgium second: While, Australia was first with 2642.25 points, FIH Pro League and Olympic champion Belgium was second with 2632.12 points. The Netherlands (4th - 2234.33) and Germany (5th - 2038.71) made it to the top five.

Pakistan occupy 18th position: While England (6th - 1990.62), Argentina (7th - 1826.11), New Zealand (8th - 1598.24), Spain (9th - 1532.33) and Malaysia (10th - 1427.18) also managed to make it to the top-10. The Korean team that won the Asian Champions Trophy remains at 16th position. Japan has come 17th. Pakistan's ranking is 18th.

Among the women, the Indian hockey team, captained by Rani Rampal, is ranked 9th in the women's team rankings with 1810.32 points. The Netherlands has topped the list with 3015.35. England are second with 2375.78 points and Argentina is third with 2361.28 points. The Indian women's hockey team made history by reaching the semifinals at the Tokyo Olympics this year.
