Holy Ramadan Starts from Today,  Kerala celebrates Vishu on April 14

Ramzan or Ramadan will begin on April 14, 2021 and end on the evening of May 12, 2021.

At the same time, today another Vishu festival has arrived, setting the hope of goodness and prosperity. Vishu is a Hindu festival celebrated in the state of Kerala, and by Keralites around the country and the world. It marks the first day of the Malayalam calendar and, therefore, is celebrated with a lot of festive excitement by Malayalis.

This year, because of the pandemic, many restrictions are in place and not every home is celebrating the festive occasion as it used to be done earlier.

Coming to HolyRamzan, it is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and is observed by Muslims across the world. It is considered to be the most pious month for the Muslim community, where devotees observe fast and pray. During fasting, one is not supposed to eat or drink anything from dawn to sunset.

Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, introspection and prayer for Muslims, the followers of Islam. It is celebrated as the month during which Muhammad received the initial revelations of the Quran, the holy book for Muslims.

Fasting is one of the five fundamental principles of Islam. Each day during Ramadan, Muslims do not eat or drink from sunrise to sunset. They are also supposed to avoid impure thoughts and bad behavior. Muslims break their daily fasts by sharing meals with family and friends, and the end of Ramadan is celebrated with a three-day festival known as Eid al-Fitr, one of Islam’s major holidays.
