NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah and his wife Sonal Shah paid a visit to the "Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya" on Monday. The minister scrutinised every detail of the museum and viewed all 14 galleries dedicated to the country's 14 former prime ministers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the museum on April 14, 2022 at the 'Teen Murti Estate,' covering the lives and contributions of all 14 former Prime Ministers.  The museum, which covers a total area of 10,491 square metres and cost Rs 306 crore to build, is inspired by the story of India's rise.

The museum has 43 galleries with cutting-edge technology-based interfaces to accommodate heterogeneity in content and frequent display rotation.

The Sangrahalaya recounts how the country's Prime Ministers guided the country through various challenges and ensured its progress. According to their term in office, each Prime Minister has been given space and prominence. Modi said during the inaugural event that the museum would provide energy for future construction and inspire future generations.

The structure opens with a gallery dedicated to India's second Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shashtri, and continues with galleries dedicated to all other Prime Ministers of India. Finally, there is a photo gallery of Dr. Manmohan Singh, who served as Prime Minister till April of 2014.
